The Refugee Life Foundation will begin its “Let Palestine Hear Us” fundraiser campaign in October 2021 with Thaer Shanaa representing the Running Refugees at the prestigious Boston Marathon. Shanaa holds the fastest marathon time in Palestine with a blazing time of 2:41. Shanaa will be running for a personal record and for a special cause. The Running Refugees partnered with Toledo based Charity HearAide to provide hearing aids for Palestinians in the West Bank. The proceeds will help fund a team of doctors who are scheduled to arrive in Spring 2022. “We hope Thaer will be the first of many top runners who will lace them up to represent The Running Refugees and our humanitarian causes” RLF Chairmen Rush Darwish said. “We enjoyed tracking him during his Boston Race and at the same time raise much needed funds to provide hearing aids for Palestine”.
The fundraiser for the LPHS campaign began October 10th 2021 and hit full stride October 22nd when the Running Refugees Relay took off from Chicago for a 300 mile Run and Bike that ended at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn Michigan. In all, over $50,000 was raised to provide hearing aids for Palestinian Families.
